Random thoughts

  • Shayla loves to do puzzles, and she is actually quite good at them. She always knows where the pieces go, but can’t always seem to get them in exactly right. She loves to have us help her.
  • Shayla has a puzzle with a bunch of fish that are different colors. This has become her new favorite puzzle. I have determined that her favorite color is blue, though, because when we do the puzzle, she will never let you put the blue piece in. She has to keep it in her hand. She has a puzzle that she likes to do at my parent’s house, and the piece that she always hangs on to is blue as well.
  • Today Shayla was pointing to a bow on her clothes. I told her it was a bow. She pointed to her elbow and says “elbow!.” Not exactly the bow that I was talking about. :)
  • Shayla started nursery a few weeks ago. Mommy and Daddy love it, as we can now actually listen during a couple hours of church. Shayla really seems to enjoy it too. She is a little apprehensive and kind stands off to the side at the beginning, but she doesn’t cry when we leave. I peeked in on her this Sunday during lesson time and she was sitting at the table with her arms folded, and watching the teacher intently.
  • Another new word Shayla has learned from her Baby Signing Time videos is “opposite.” She says “oppits.” In the video t hey show two arrows pointing in opposite directions. There are some arrows on her high chair that look the same, and she always points to it and says “oppits." It’s such a random word, but so cute the way she says it.
  • Shayla calls buttons “butt.” :)
  • I bought Shayla a potty awhile back. She loves to sit on it, although it’s usually with clothes on. She will often tell us “woo-wee!” after she messes her pants, but she is not figuring it out beforehand. The other day I set her on her  potty before she got into the bath. She only sat for a second and got up. Between getting up from the potty, and walking to the bathtub, she peed on the floor. We’ve obviously got a ways to go still. • Shayla now answers “No” to any question you ask her. If she really doesn’t want it, then it’s said angrily. “No!” If it is a yes, or a questionable no, then the answer is always “No-oo,” said in a very sweet voice.”
  • Shayla has started to say “OK.” It’s always said in a very happy voice. “Ka-ay!.”

Reading to her baby. She loves this “Mr Brown Can Moo” book, and does almost all of the sounds.

100_4136 100_4137We were putting away laundry and Shayla kept bringing clothes to daddy to put on her. She had quite the large bum by the time we were done. :) It had to have been hot with all those layers.
